Naming Classes Pertaining to PDFs Uploaded

UPDATE 11-24-10 The system has been updated to allow two classes with the same name, just not in the same category.
Every PDF that gets uploaded through PeaShooter gets renamed automatically by the system. The new name comes from where the PDF is uploaded. For example, if you upload a PDF to the Gym Schedule for a particular branch, whatever you name the PDF gets changed to Branch_Name_YMCA_Gym_Schedule.pdf. The same is true for PDF Registration Forms on the program schedule pages, and this is where problems can happen. If you have two classes with the same name, even if they are in different categories, and you upload a registration PDF to both, you will get the exact same PDF for both. This is because the system automatically renames your PDFs and will overwrite the first one you load with the second one. The solution is to have unique class names, even if it's just adding a letter or number after the class name. Please see System Upgrade 10/02/2008

Cleaning up your Library

Making the Best of your Server Space If you upload a lot of pictures and logos to use on your site, it would be a good idea to go in and clean out your library about once a month. Files like schedule PDFs don't need to be deleted because they are automatically renamed and replaced with new PDFs being uploaded through PeaShooter. An example of what to clean out would be anything that you would load to the branch/center News pages or the Department Pages: PDFs, jpegs, or gifs, once they become outdated. To clean out your library, simply go to any ConMan page, click on the Insert/Edit Link button that looks like an Earth with a chain link, and then click on the Browse Server button. You are now connected to your library. In your library you can see the names of all your files, the file size, date it was uploaded, and three options for each file, Delete, Rename and Move/Copy. Rename and Move/Copy you probably won't ever use. For all options, you want to make absolutely certain that there is nothing in ConMan currently linked to the file. Find the file you want and click Delete.
