The New and Improved ConMan!
The ConMan editor has been upgraded and the user time out has been extended to one hour.
Originally we had recommended that users compose their text in Word, then copy and paste into ConMan. Copying text from Word also copies the embedded Word-specific text formatting. The additional formatting is extremely difficult to translate into usable HTML and has caused significant problems maintaining consistent formatting. To address this, we have made significant changes to the ConMan editor.
New Copy Paste Handling
The Paste and the Paste as Word buttons have been removed. ConMan now automatically pastes text as plain text in most cases. On a PC or MAC, in Firefox, using the mouse or key command of Control+V will open a paste as plain text dialog box for you to paste into. Using the Edit menu > Paste will preserve any styles that had previously been applied in another ConMan page. In Explorer, either way you paste gives you plain text in your editor field.
New Styles
The Format, Font, and Size drop down menus have been removed, as they caused some confusion and often “stacked” formatting rather than changing styles. A variety of colors and sizes have been added to the new Style menu for ease of use and consistency throughout your site. The color options palette is still available for changing most text.
Note: To remove a style from text, select your text and re-select the same style to "turn it off". Also, don’t forget about the Remove Format, or eraser button in the upper right corner of the menu. If you end up with a style that can’t easily be changed, select the text and remove the formatting to get back to standard plain text.
Extended Time
The automatic log out time has been extended from 30 minutes to one hour to give users the ability to compose in ConMan. If that still isn't enough time to get your thoughts in order, Windows comes with a program called NotePad which leaves your text plain, so you can compose in it and then copy and paste into ConMan without any additional Word formatting.
